– 9. When Lightning Strikes – A fan favorite with a touch of grace when the synth is introduced towards the middle of the song. Calls upon the innocence of 80s alt pop.
– 1. Leaving All the World – A song about conversing with God. Dark during the verses, light for the other sections. A wonderful piece for driving or staring out of windows to let your mind wander.
– 2. Velocity – Sometimes feelings hurt so much that you just pray for velocity to get through it. With prog influences and two guitar leads.
Circle of Dominion’s music is unique with an emerging genre they’ve created named Spirit Rock or Spirit Pop. With elements of art pop, prog rock, happy and deep at the same time. Dark and light throughout.
“California band that harkens back to the psychedelic era, but adds art rock/pop sensibilities, as well as progressive influences. Comprised primarily of Clara Hembree and Craig Camp, they bring in friends here and there to assist them in creating their sound. In addition to ethereal lyrics, vocalized by Hembree, they dish out a couple of helpings of satirical observational songs, which achieves a nice balance. Favorite track: Velocity (album version)”

“They blur the lines between rock, folk, ethereal and psychedelic creating a unique groove. They cite diverse influences such as Sun Ra, XTC, Yes, The Specials, Phoebe Snow, and Killing Joke. While the influences are so seemingly random, it makes perfect sense with their overall vibe. Clara’s sweet vocals range from delicate, swooping falsettos to bluesy growls. Paired over luscious melodies of psychedelic and post-punk influenced guitar, bass and drums, their sound is distinctly modern and yet feels so wonderfully familiar.”
