Clarinet and Guitar with Lake Waves

In this meditative music, we hear an intimate conversation between clarinet and guitar, unfolding by the lake on a brilliant night. It is a dialogue born of stillness and reflection, two voices finding each other in the quiet dark.

Clarinet initiates the conversation, gently opening the space to explore the theme of resilience. The two instruments greet one another warmly before settling into their stories — what they have survived, what they have carried, where they have been and where they hope to go. They move through uncertainty and understanding together. At the end, they arrive at a place of resolution and peace with one another.

Beneath their conversation, the gentle sounds of lake water provide a grounding presence, as though nature itself is holding the space for this exchange. The brilliance of the night is conjured through a deep, expansive synth pad, dotted with a repetitive, synchronous melody that pulses softly like starlight — constant, reassuring, and quietly radiant.

This music is an exploration of resilience — resilience within the self, and the power of self-talk as a tool for working things through. The clarinet and guitar give voice to that inner dialogue we all carry: the questions we ask ourselves, the stories we tell ourselves, and the courage it takes to listen honestly to the answers.

All of the instruments were recorded in the early morning hours. I generally begin each day around 5:40, with a quiet cup of coffee before settling into the home studio as the world is still waking. There is something sacred about that hour — the stillness, the low light, the sense that the day hasn’t yet made its demands.

Writing and recording in those early hours is a meditation in itself. It is active creation, and active creation is a true healer.
